Looks like some bad news about Amazon’s Unbox Service is hitting the blogosphere.
Uninnovate has a pretty detailed account of why the service isn’t up to par with all of it’s restrictions and the possibility of Amazon erasing the movies if you don’t comply with the any ToS changes. Some of it is pretty nasty stuff, that Amazon’s legal department has surely made a big booboo.
C|Net’s Tom Merritt also had an interesting time uninstalling the Unbox service.
It seems with all of the power that Amazon has, they have totally dropped the ball with this. I would have hoped that they would have given the user the ability to watch the movies on a dvd player or burn it to a dvd so it’s like actually owning the movie, but not really, especially since you are paying just as much for the download, except you don’t get all of the cool special features.
Tsk tsk Amazon. Let’s all hope that during next week’s Apple’s special engagement, dubbed “Showtime,” Steve & Co. will show the world how it’s done right, that way Amazon can just copy them and make their service really kick ass.
